Core Mandate of the Commission

  • The mandate of the Data Protection Commission is derived from the Data Protection Act 2012 (Act 843) and includes;
  • To monitor and enforce the data protection law, which gives individuals enforceable data protection rights and increases the responsibility of corporations that collect and process personal data
  • Regulate the processing of personal data;
  • Ensure that the processing of personal data of a data subject is guided by the principles in the Act;
  • The Commission ensure that living individuals are aware of their data protection rights.
